Asked Questions
What are the finishing options for the felt artworks?
In the Raw
Ready to frame
CAnvas Mounted
This is the simplest option. You will receive your artwork as it comes off the embroidery machine. It will be pressed of course so that it is ready for you to hang in any way you want or incorporate into your own creative work.
Your chosen work will be lightly attached onto an appropriately sized picture mount. The mount will usually be black with a white core ( as in the picture on left) unless a lighter colour works better with the specific image. Each artwork in the shop has the finished size option or options included in the description. This finished size is the recommended frame size for the picture mount and felt machine embroidered piece. For example a work with a finished size of 12x12 inches requires a 12x12 inch frame. You will receive a 12x12 inch picture mount with an aperture of 10x10 inches and the felt picture will be approximately 11x11 inches.
If you select this finishing option you will receive your chosen artwork on a canvas board in the size that works for the size of artwork you have chosen. The machine embroidered work will first be mounted on stiff card to ensure it sits flat and this will be mounted onto the canvas board. The canvas board will have a ‘d’ ring on the back so it can go straight on your wall. Alternatively you can mount it in a shadow box style picture frame.
IN the hoop
This is not a regular finishing option I offer at the moment but when I do find a design that fits well in a hoop it will be included in the finishing options for that product in the shop.
Occasionally a special piece of embroidery will just cry out to be mounted in a traditional embroidery hoop. Hoops can be plastic or wood and if you choose wood you could paint or varnish it to suit your decor. It is not always possible to find the right size of hoop but if you would prefer any item in my shop in a hoop do contact me and I can discuss the options. The hoop can be easily hung on the wall using the stretcher screw at the top.
There is a number of ways a work can be personalised
How does customisation work?
Choose the design
Firstly select the design you want to adapt from the shop. Then decide how you want to change it.
Size changes
I can make a design from the shop 20% bigger or smaller. If you want a more substantial change I can see if the image digitizer has other size options.
Colour
The background material and the coloured thread combinations can be changed. If you have a specific colour you want to tone with, let me know and I will provide you with some options to make the item unique to you.
Build on the design
If you like a design but you would like to add to it then talk to me. For example, it might be you like a picture of a bike but would like to make it more relevant to your family. If you let me know the number of adult and child bikes you want I will see what I can do.
Personalise
Many of the artworks in the shop can be personalised with a name. Just contact me with what you would like to add and I can see what I can do.
Other ideas?
If you can’t see what you want in the shop contact me to see if I can help. I work with digital designers of the highest quality and they may have what you are looking for. I can not digitise myself but again there are people out there who can give us a quote to convert a jpeg into an embroidery design. Just a note - the more complicated an image and the more colours it has the higher the cost will be to digitise it.

Unless stated in the item description each design is stitched on 100% wool felt or tight weave 100% cotton. Both of which carry OEK certificates. The thread is rayon due to the strength required. Some ‘greener’ threads are beginning to come on the market which I hope to try soon.

I have used natural fibres so a machine embroidered artwork can naturally fade over time. I would recommend the item is kept out of direct sunlight.
If the item is not framed but you worry about dust accumulating it can be easily cleaned with a soft brush. Only brush in one direction.
Avoid getting the item wet.
